Norman Bizon grew up in Edmonton, Alberta; the most Northerly major city in Canada. He has an uncanny tolerance for cold and likes to ice skate, but prefers the climate in Arizona where he can do things outside 365 days of the year. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Alberta and a Physician Associate certificate from the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.
Before joining Lifescape, Norman spent ten years as a Physician Associate at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. There, he received extensive experience in neurosurgery, plastic and reconstructive microsurgery, orthopedic and hand surgery, and wound care. He has a special interest in treating complaints of the hand, elbow, and shoulder.
Norman has been a lecturer and preceptor with Phoenix area Physician Associate schools and a speaker at state and national PA meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Arizona State Academy of Physician Assistants and holds national certification with special recognition for proficiency in primary care and surgery.
Norman is active in community outreach. He has volunteered with the Special Olympics, homeless teens, and in developing countries overseas. He also has interests in travel medicine, manages the LifeScape Premier Travel Clinic, and is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine.
Norm says, “My passion for travel and service in developing nations started when I was much younger and lived in Northern India for 3 months in the foothills of the Himalayas as part of Canada World Youth, a Canadian development organization similar to the Peace Corps.” In 2012, Norman spent eight days in Nicaragua on a mission trip with the Yale Alumni Service Corps seeing patients in medical clinics. While there, the group also built houses, did public health education, mentored small business enterprises, coached local sports teams and taught in the schools.
