“Food is about pleasure, about community, and family and spirituality, about our relationship to the natural world and about expressing our identity.”- Michael Pollan, PhD
Functional medicine utilizes a variety of tools to assess and improve patient outcomes. These include establishing a relationship during the patient interview, ordering preventive diagnostic testing as needed, offering dietary support to optimize nutritional status, and suggesting supportive supplements.
LifeScape utilizes an online supplement dispensary to offer customization and personalization for each individual patient. To learn more about supplements and LifeScape’s Policy on utilizing them, please click here.
Cultivate a Resilient Gut
The foundation of health begins in the gut. Here resides a vast diversity of bacteria and fungi referred to as the microbiome. When in balance we experience healthy weight, positive mood, abundant energy, glowing skin and a strong immune system.
Inflammation is associated with arthritis, irritable bowel, cancer, chronic fatigue, heart disease, elevated blood pressure, sleep apnea, and diabetes. The fire is fed by diets high in processed foods, damaged fats, sugar/artificial sugar, excess alcohol, and refined carbohydrates.
Cooling inflammation is a multi-step process. “De-flaming” the diet, retooling lifestyle habits around sleep, stress reduction/interruption, and daily movement all play a synergistic role in cooling the body and enhancing vitality.
Small steps lead to real change over time and by addressing inflammation from a whole life perspective these changes become lifelong sustainable habits.
Heal from the Inside Out
When we are out of balance it may be necessary to follow a specialized diet plan for a finite time period to allow for complete healing.
Often, identifying and removing food sensitivities can be the first step in the process.
"We are more than what we eat, we are what we absorb."
