Ideally, we want none of our patients to outlive their brain, need vascular surgery or dialysis, become diabetic, or endure a heart attack, cancer or stroke. As our nation’s average life-expectancy continues to plummet with the worst “healthy life expectancy” among wealthy nations, we marvel at our patients getting healthier at every age and stage.
